Ex-CEO, ex-president of Otkritie FC Bank appeal against fine
MOSCOW, Mar 19 (PRIME) -- Former CEO of Russia’s Otkritie Financial Corporation (FC) Bank Yevgeny Dankevich and the bank’s former President Ruben Aganbegyan have appealed against recovery of a record 289.5 billion ruble fine from them and their co-defendants under a central bank suit, as seen by PRIME on Friday in the register of arbitration proceedings.
The Arbitration Court of the Moscow District will hear the appeals.
The Moscow Arbitration Court approved the suit of the central bank in September 2020 and imposed the fine on Dankevich, Aganbegyan, Otkritie Group’s founder Vadim Belyayev, former member of Otkritie FC Bank’s management board Gennady Zhuzhlev, and former core shareholder of the bank Otkritie Holding.
In February 2020, the Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal upheld the decision and included former member of the management board of Otkritie FC Bank Yelena Budnik into the list of defendants.
Hearings of the central bank’s suit were done behind closed doors, therefore decisions of the Moscow Arbitration Court and the Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal were not published.
